Great Club Championships enjoyed by happy crowd!
That's the immediate description of the night's activities and atmosphere. We had squash from 6:30 to about 9:00 when we adjourned to the members bar for the presentation and socialising. The results on the night are below and the full draws and results can be accessed here. Photos to follow. Dermot Ryan was presented with the new award of Club Person of the Year.

Philip McSweeney wins 2017 Highfield CC Final
Philip McSweeney defeated Michael Ryan 3/0 to regain the Highfield Club Champion title. In the semi-finals former junior international Philip defeated new club member Luke Tough from New Zealand 3/0 while Michael accounted for vets international John Dineen 3/1. Both finalists justified their 1 and 2 seedings to reach the final.
In his first A final Michael settled quickly and competed well in some long rallies. Michael adopted an aggressive attacking style and took some risks in an effort to unsettle the favourite Philip. Both players competed well with some great retrieving on show, but Philip had a few points cushion throughout each game. Philip's overall tighter game with a lower error count saw him through to take the title.
The match was watched by a very large crowd who saw both players give maximum effort right to the end in a very sporting contest. (Report compiled by Cyril O'Mahony who also refereed the final)
