Ball Cannon

Playing

We successfully applied to Squash Ireland for a Squash Cannon under the Sports Equipment Grant.

It could be a great asset to members hoping to improve their squash and would be a very reliable practice partner once you become familiar with its use! There is a short YouTube video here to give you the idea.

Below are some of the dos and don'ts relating to its use and you can download the user manual here.
General

  • The user manual is available above.
  • The ball feeder is stored under the computer terminal outside Court 1.
  • The ball feeder is available to be enjoyed by all members over thirteen who have been given a quick overview on its safe use. Under 13s can use it under coach supervision only.
  • The feeder is a great tool for solo practice, its use is at your own risk.
  • The remote control for the feeder is stored in the timber cabinet by the computer (members have fob access).
  • The ball  feeder is to be used in battery mode only – do NOT use the mains as the lead is a safety hazard.
  • The battery life is approximately 4-hours use and if fully depleted will take about 12 hours to re-charge.

To Use

  • Disconnect the charging cable from the back of the feeder.
  • Turn the toggle switch at the back to (i) this is battery mode and you will hear a sound.
  • That sound signals that the feeder has started the process of warming the balls.
  • Please note it will take up to 20 min to get all the balls warm (capacity is 80 balls).
  • Once the balls are warm, position the feeder in the court in the position from which you want to start the practice.
  • Use remote controller to set & start the feeding pattern you require.
  • Always place the remote control on the opposite side of the feeder to avoid crossing the feeder when in use.
  • When the feeder has delivered the 80 shots pick the balls up and place into top of machine, and ok to repeat
  • If you think a ball is stuck in the feeder never look directly into the front of the feeder where the balls come out and turn the feeder off before investigating.

After Use    Please do the following so the feeder is ready for the next person
  • Make sure the feeder is fully loaded with all the balls.
  • Place the feeder back under the computer but always with the feeding side facing the timber cabinet (safety).
  • Turn the toggle switch to the centre position (0) this is the position for battery charging.
  • Connect the charging cable to the feeder (gently screw in).
  • Turn the remote controller off (button top right) and place in timber cabinet.
  • Leave on charge for next person, it is fully charged when the green light appears on the transformer of the charging cable.

ENJOY, HAVE FUN AND BE SAFE!
